Joseph Altuzarra, one of today's most apreciated young designers, was born and raised in Paris, studied Art and Art History with a strong focus on fashion and architecture and went to New York where he was hired at the Marc Jacobs Studio as a designer intern? Other big fashion houses that hired him were Proenza Schouler (where he worked as a freelance designer) and Givenchy (where he worked as a design assistant). As he was living his Parisian adventurre at Givenchy, he decided to go back to New York to launch his own line.
Joseph Altuzarra's style seems to mirror his experiences in both the French and the American capitals of fashion, for it harmoniously includes both the art of French couture and a very New Yorker vibrant energy. The result: a contemporary and practical wardrobe to the modern woman.
In his Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection he presents lots of black leather that creates what I would call a gothic chic style. Strappy heels, on both boots and ancle boots seem to be the favourites of this collection. Pointy toe shoes, a big come back for this winter, are olso included in his winter collection. Another new trend for this winter is jewel-tone velvet. Altuzarra has chosen a beautiful and rich red tone.
(Psst! A post entirely dedicated on the trends of the coming cold season will be posted in August on GvN Fashion Style Bolg!).
